Camping Survival Techniques: Wire Saws
We all love the idea of spending time outdoors. The feeling of cool summer breeze under a star lit
night is a plan to reckon with. The best camping trips are the ones that are taken away from the hustle
and bustle of city life, mostly in woods or a more secluded area, a place where there is peace and the
only sound is that of the natural habitat.
When we plan a trip to the woods, it is always better to go equipped and prepare a survival gear list to
ensure that all the necessary items are where they should be, in your survival back pack. Survival gear
helps you in fighting tricky situations when you are in the middle of nowhere and it can come in handy
in case of an emergency. The survival tools mainly consist of a knife, a signal mirror/metal sheet which
are very helpful even in low light conditions to attract attention, portable phone charger (remember to
upgrade the kit when you buy a new phone) etc.
While all these items are a must have, there is also something very rudimentary and has been used
for ages by hunters in the wilderness – the Wire Saws. These were used mainly to cut the branches off
and clear the way for hunting men. However, in camping, these wire saws are pretty useful in cutting
the firewood that can be used for cooking and bonfire purposes. These small and handy saws are a
great way of cutting small limbs off the trees or branches to build shelters that can be helpful in the
wilderness.
There are many wire saws available in the market that can do the job well. However, one should look
for the top quality saw that will stay put in harsh conditions. Also, as a quick resort, one can also build
a wire saw from scraps that is not only cheap but is virtually free. On a camping trip, wire saws are
particularly helpful as they cut very quickly and can easily handle heavy limbs as compared to their
heavy duty counterparts. Since they are relatively small and compact in size, they are easy to carry in
the backpack as well.
Camping is fun get away but in absence of correct gear it can also be a thin line between life and death.
It is always better to be well stocked than to be sorry when you are in the middle of nowhere with one
less item for survival. It is always better to have a check list ready of all the items that are necessary for
the trip and must be packed into the kit before leaving. Don't just let camping be fun, let it be safe too!
