If you're an outdoors enthusiast or just like to go camping a lot throughout the year, you might benefit from using fire starters. Not only that, but carrying one around with you might be able to save your life in certain situations. You can create that fire that gives you warmth and cooks your food. The fire starters are easy to use and requires minimal practice prior to being able to start your very own fire.

The magnesium fire starters come with a large flint steel rod that is complete with magnesium. There is a striking blade built right into the fire starter to ensure that you do not dull the knife that you have on you or just in case you do not have a knife on you at that particular moment. With the right sparking, you're able to start a fire using any type of fire starting material that is around you at the time.

One of the biggest noted things about these fire starters is that you're able to use them in wet or dry conditions. The rugged, heavy duty design ensures that the fire starter will be able to continue working under just about any condition so you will not have to worry about temperatures dropping or not being able to cook that piece of meat that is waiting to be warmed. The corrosion resistant materials are high quality and are not made of easy to break or snap plastic like some fire starters that might be going for a lower price but provide lower quality when quality is something that might be needed at certain outdoor experiences.

You can add this fire starter right to your keyring since it is a bit more three inches and weighs only 1/10 of a pound so it won't hold you down and you can ensure that you always have it on you, no matter where it is that you decide to go – just don't forget your keys!

These fire starters are designed to last you a life time so that is a lot of fires that can be made using this small but handy device.

What is more is that you do not have to worry about carrying around numerous pieces to be able to start a fire, but everything that you need is found in one specific area. You just whip it out and you're ready to get the fire started and there is no searching involved with flint and other items that are separate. The sparks that are created with the magnesium are able to stay lit for a little bit longer than normal flint sparks so you have a bit to get the fire started without having them go out on you. They are more like hot chunks that give you time to throw them on the material, rather than small sparks that flutter and die out within a few seconds. This truly is a large upgrade compared to other fire starters that you may come across.

Why Would You Use Fire Starters?

There are numerous reasons why you might want to bring one of these fire starters home and use them. Depending on your particular situation, you may find that one reason is better than another – you might also have a reason that is not listed on this list – whatever the reason is, you will be sure to love the magnesium fire starters offered.

How to Use the Magnesium Fire Starters

Here is a step by step guide on how easy it is to use your magnesium fire starter and get the fire going in no time.

1. Unscrew the larger section to reveal the fire starting rod that is inside the section.

2. Hold one section in one hand and the other in your other hand.

3. Position the striking blade on the top of the large section so that it is in a 45 degree angle with the fire starting rod and they should rest on one another. This is the position it needs to be in to create the ultimate fire.

4. Hold the smaller section firmly and scrape the rod with the top edge of the striking blade fast and smoothly. Ensure that you're pressing hard against the blade with the rod and keeping the 45 degree angle while doing so.

** If done correctly, there will be bright and hot sparks that burn and ignite.

5. Place the sparks on fire starting material and lightly blow on the embers to get the fire started.

Practice with the fire starter when you get it – you can use cotton balls, newspaper, dryer lint and many other materials to practice lighting. You only need a small amount of these materials to get the fire started.

The blade to the fire starter might start to become dull after many, many uses and you can flip it over to the other side by unscrewing the top screw on the section and flipping the blade over. Ensure that you secure the blade back in place by screwing it tightly. A knife sharpener can also be used to sharpen the striking blade.
